Nigerian NGOs
Great fashion here in Lagos seems to be the NGO-business. And I call it quite deliberately "Business".
This city has a lot of NGOs, that founders with such a beautiful name as "Executive Director" and decorate the rise through the establishment terribly important to people and make terribly important things for a good cause. Many of these NGOs live on donations, can look at meetings and discussing that more or less important issues. I have also heard of counterexamples, but in a city where money and fame is more important than many others, we name the NGO unfortunately very often used to generate exactly this money and this glory. I was sitting in meetings where I've seen how much food is wasted there, so I came with a Mitfreiwilligen the idea that meaningful NGO should deal with it once to go to all the meetings, the discarded Food pick up and distribute it in the slums of Lagos. This is a waste problem occurs here mainly to extremely wealthy districts, even though I'm not saying that it does not occur in Germany. Here the problem appears to be twice as difficult because the differences "poor" and "rich" here are so close together, creating a stark contrast.
Likewise, I will not deny that the name "NGO" could also be abused in Germany, but I experience it for yourself here.
